New location and schedule
It has been a busy couple of weeks for us! We have lots of major updates to share.
At the beginning of the year we thought we were getting ahead of the game by preparing for possible COVID restrictions. We adjusted the schedule, splitting the events over two days and adjusting start times to cut down on congestion. Then, out of the blue, we got hit with something totally unexpected. UW-Green Bay informed us that we could NOT use the trails this year due to severe erosion in a couple locations. We countered the denial with three different options, hoping that we would still be able to stay on campus. All of them were rejected. So, there we were at the beginning of this week with an in -person race and nowhere to hold it! When we got the first notice from the University, we reached out to the Brown County Park Department about using one of their properties. As you can imagine, with the race only two months away, no options were available. We got the final NO from both on the same day. Back to square one and a mad scramble to find some available trails.
Here is the happy part. We all know our trail running community is awesome! We reached out to a few friends and found, in our opinion, the best location for not only this year, but for years to follow! This year’s race will be held on the trails at Camp Sinawa near Valders. It is about an hour south of Green Bay and a 15 minute drive from Manitowoc. We know that is a big shift in location, but the camp offers us some great opportunities in the long term.
Here’s the tricky part. To accommodate the new location, we have changed up the schedule. All four events will be held on Saturday with adjusted start times. We will not be holding the Wolf Run this year. Watch for it to return next year.
Friday, June 25
Packet pick up - 4:00-7:00p
Saturday, June 26
5:08a - 15.5 hour start
6:08a - 8 hour start
7:08a - “Sunrise” 6 hour start (We know…it’s not at sunrise any more)
1:08p - 6 hour course closes
2:08p - 8 hour course closes
2:41p - Sunset 6 hour start
8:41p - 15.5 hour and Sunset 6 hour courses close
That’s a lot of change! BUT…we can have a real race this year!
We understand that some of you registered for Sunday may not be able to make it on Saturday. Please see the information at the bottom for your options.
More information about Camp Sinawa can be found on their web page. Campsinawa.com
We will have a course map and more details as soon as we figure them out. We will do our best to keep the web page updated. Updates will also be posted on Facebook. If you would like a chance to run the tails at Camp Sinawa before race day, check out the Sinawa 2Hour or 6 Hour run will be held on May 15, 2021. We will be there volunteering for the day and hope to see many of you as well.
What happens next?
IF you are registered for the 6 Hour (Sunrise) or 8 Hour race that was scheduled for Sunday, June 27th, you have 2 options:
Your registration will automatically move to Saturday, June 26, 2021. You will start at the new start time listed above at the new Sinawa Camp location.
If you cannot race on Saturday, you can either defer to 2022 or request a refund. We will not be offering refunds at any other time or for any other reason.
Those registered for the 15.5 Hour race and the 6 Hour Sunset race need to do nothing. Your registration is all set and you just need to show up at Sinawa Camp at the regular time.
Titletown Ultra Series is back!
BUT...we have a new name.
We are now
Dawn to Dusk Endurance Run.
Don't worry. It is still the same great event you have come to love/hate. The same supportive staff that you have come to expect along with another great batch of swag. And yes, the watermelon will still be at Aid Station 1.
Registration will open February 6
Those who rolled their registration over from last year will priority registration.
Our goal this year is to have a real race! We’ve made some changes to the schedule and format of the race to help ensure that we will be able to hold the race in person. We need another week to get registration set up.
In order to reduce the number of runners gathered together at any one time, yet still allow as many runners as we can to join the fun on the course, we have split the event over two days, Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27. The 15.5 hour and the 6 hour sunset runs will be on Saturday with the normal start times. Sunday will host the 8 hour and the 6 hour morning run. The 8 hour will start at Sunrise. The 6 hour will start 30 minutes later. This gives time for one group to clear the start area and then gets the second group off before the first runners complete their first lap. Initially, all events will be capped at 48 runners. Once we get closer to race day, if things improve we may be able to raise the limits.
To help avoid having to process refunds, everyone registering will be put in a wait list status. No charges will be made to your account until we have an official go ahead.
We are also looking at securing a backup alternate location in the area just in case the situation changes at the University.
We hope to have an update on the Wolf Run soon.
It will take us a while to get our name changed everywhere. Please be patient. If you don't find us under one name, check the other.
Your Dawn to Dusk Endurance Run team,
Ann, Scott, Jeannette and Shannon
